Welcome to Neverland

I am a Lost Girl

In the land

Locked in the shackles of time

Time

I found him

Fettered to a chair

Chains made of steel

Rag blinding his vision

Binding it to an eternity of darkness

Imprisoned in a room

Alone

I crouched outside

And wept with him

Listening to its woes

And pleas for someone

To liberate it from its dark slumber

Fingertips scratching the door

A futile attempt to

Carve a path out

Time

Age old tales scribed by

The lost but not forgotten

Experiences of humanity

Impart lessons cautioning

How he

Is a dreadful thing

Taking and taking

And never giving back

I want my fairy tale

To be over

I believed in the impossible

Long enough for it

For its facade of beauty

To begin rusting at the edges

And peeling away

Losing its halo of

Blissful ignorant youth

I pick the lock

Untangle the chains

Cut the rag

He and I escape together

And now I must

Gamble with the Devil

Welcome to Neverland
