Mirror

I rush over

Wave to those I know

Smile from ear to ear

But when I look

I see the truth

I see a scar

A shallow

Paper cut

I leap and twirl

Hug those I meet

Laugh in glee

But when I look

I see the truth

I see a crouched figure

Weeping with sorrow

Lost in sadness

I give my heart

I spread love

I joyfully kiss

But when I look

I see the truth

I see a knotted face

Full of deep ferociousness

Drowning in the ocean of hate

I’m gasping

I’ve done more than enough

What else is there to do?

I’m lost

Every part of me has been given away

And now

I’m left with nothing

Where is the love I’ve been searching for?

I have made deals

To trade my love for theirs

But when I give

They take

But do not give back

Now I look

I see the truth

A shattered mirror

Broken apart into a thousand pieces

Scattered

With nothing to keep it

To-

get-

her
